Summer Positions

There are a number of summer staff positions available with our 7 sites throughout Indiana. Every camp is unique, but we need staffers helping with things like: lifeguarding, ropes courses, medics, video production, food service, program support, counseling, auditorium A/V production, etc.

These next few sections will help you decide if this is the place for you.

The Right Bus:

In his book Good to Great, Jim Collins writes that great organizations get the “right people” in the “right seats” on the “right bus.” Is Impact 2818 Outdoor Ministries the right bus for you? We strive to serve the local church by providing places and opportunities for people to encounter Christ and grow in their relationship with Him. Our staff work behind the scenes to set the stage and remove obstacles, allowing volunteers to focus on ministering to campers. We work hard, but most importantly we love Jesus and each other well.

The Right Person:

  • Authentic Disciple: To be Impact 2818 Outdoor Ministries staff you must have more than programming skill or leadership ability. You must first and foremost love Jesus. We look for staff committed to a growing relationship with Jesus Christ, seeking to follow His will for their life.
  • Servant Attitude: You must desire to demonstrate that love through serving others, including volunteers, campers, parents, and fellow staff. You must be willing to go above and beyond to exceed expectations of guests.
  • Adaptability: Camp is full of surprises. You must be flexible. You may need to make quick decisions and change plans to meet the changing needs of volunteers and staff.
  • Team Player: Serving at camp can mean long days and hard work. We look for energetic, positive-minded staff. From washing dishes to cleaning toilets to mowing grass, all staff serve in every aspect of camp.

The Right Seat:

  • Organizational: Success is in the details. When leading activities you must ensure that facilities and supplies are ready on time. You’ll need to plan ahead and be ready with a back up plan.
  • Skilled Communicator: You’ll be interacting with volunteers, campers, parents & staff on a daily basis. You must be able to clearly communicate plans & instructions. You must also be able to listen to and understand others, giving or finding answers to meet their needs in a timely manner.
  • Innovative Self Starter: It takes many people doing a variety of tasks to make camp successful. You must be able to see what needs done, and step up and take the lead to get it done, encouraging and inspiring other staff.
  • Creative Thinker: You will have the opportunity to put your own personal touch on some activities and areas of camp. You must be able to demonstrate the ability to think outside the box, for both leading programs and problem solving.
  • Additional Requirements: At least 18 years of age or graduated from high school. Leadership experience in a previous job, organization, club or school.

Opportunities That Pay

It's not just a job when you spend a summer working at camp. It's an opportunity to build into young amazing people who come for an exciting week, but even more importantly, to hear about God and see God.

We hire summer staff who want to be living examples of Christ the entire summer.

Leadership Tracks & Internships

Some of our positions are geared for leadership development. These are positions that will contain supervisory responsibilities. Many positions can be tied to an internship for school credit as well. These positions will help you develop leadership skills, look good on resumes and may have potential opportunities with Impact 2818 Outdoor Ministries in the future if you are interested in camping as a career.
